The Cemetery
	Brookside Memorial Park encompasses 282 wooded and tranquil acres with 120 acres currently being developed. The land was purchased in 1932 from the James Berry family who had established a family cemetery before the Civil War. The first burial that had taken place dates back to 1873. In 1939, the Charles Saunders family developed Brookside Memorial Park into what it has become today.

Chapel of the Chimes
Return to Homepage	A Chapel with a great history adorns the property of Brookside Memorial Park. The stone that was used to build the Chapel came from a church that was located in downtown Houston at the corner of Main and McKinney. The church had been destroyed by a fire and a demolishing company obtained the stone. The Chapel of the Chimes was then erected using that stone. The construction began in 1931 and halted in 1932 because of lack of funds and the Great Depression. The Chapel was finally completed in 1952.
